Certification MD – Machine devices

Do you manufacture machinery or technological equipment? As a manufacturer of machinery, you are obliged to make a declaration of conformity before placing machinery on the market and carry out a conformity assessment of the machinery.

A conformity assessment of machinery means an assessment of whether the machinery conforms to its technical (design) documentation and meets all the essential health and safety requirements laid down in Annex I of Government Regulation No. 436/2008 or Directive 2006/42/EU.

Machinery is classified as a designated product under Government Regulation No. 436/2008 whose putting into service or placing on the market must comply with applicable regulations.

Additionally, an employer is obliged to ensure the inspection of work equipment after its installation and before its first use in accordance with Section 5(1) and (2) of Government Regulation No. 392/2006.

When is a conformity assessment necessary?

  • For machinery referred to in Section 2 in Government Regulation No. 436/2008.
  • For partly completed machinery
  • For technological lines made up of machines forming a single technological unit

Who makes the declaration of conformity?

The declaration of conformity is drawn up exclusively by the manufacturer of the machinery, thereby placing the product on the market in accordance with Slovak and EU legislation.
