Section 17 – Operators of gas, pressure and lifting equipment

Under legal regulations and other regulations on occupational health and safety, the activities of an operator of gas, pressure of lifting equipment under Section 17 must be performed by a natural person with a valid licence.

What types of classified technical equipment require a licence to operate under Section 17?

Operators of classified technical equipment must hold a valid licence for the following equipment:

  1. steam and fluid boilers of Classes I to V,
  2. mobile jib cranes, tower jib cranes and moving working platforms with a motorised chassis in group A intended for operation on roads,
  3. gas technical equipment in group A other than gas installations referred to in Annex 1, Part IV, Group A, points (d) and (g).

What are the conditions for issuing an operation licence for classified technical equipment under Section 17?

  • age at least 18 years
  • medical fitness for the role of a technical inspector confirmed by a medical report issued within the last 6 months
  • confirmation of completion of vocational training (education) by an authorised education and training organisation
  • successful verification of professional knowledge by the authorised legal entity EIC

On satisfaction of these conditions, EIC will grant the candidate an operation licence.

What is the procedure for verification of professional knowledge?

Verification of professional knowledge takes place in person and consists of a written part (test) and an oral part. The set of questions for the verification of professional knowledge is provided to candidates upon payment of the advance invoice.
