Section 18 – Repair and installation of gas, pressure and lifting equipment

What types of classified technical equipment require certification for repair and installation under Section 18?

A repair worker with valid certification is needed for the repair and reconstruction of classified technical equipment and installation of classified technical equipment into a functional unit at the place of its future operation, the management of work on such repairs, reconstruction and installation and inspections and tests of a repaired part of classified technical equipment where such repair involved the replacement of a worn out part with a new part, except where safety equipment is concerned and except in cases defined by safety requirements, in the case of the following equipment:

1. steam and fluid boilers of Classes I to V,
2. pipelines referred to in Annex 1, Part I, Group A, point (e),
3. passenger and goods-passenger lifts in Group A,
4. gas installations in Group A.

What are the conditions for issuing certification for repair and installation of classified technical equipment under Section 18?

• age at least 18 years
• medical fitness for the activity of a technical inspector confirmed by a medical report issued within the last 6 months
• confirmation of completion of vocational training (education) by an authorised education and training organisation
• successful verification of professional knowledge by the authorised legal entity

On satisfaction of these conditions, EIC will grant the candidate an operation licence.

What is the procedure for verification of professional knowledge?

Verification of professional knowledge takes place in person and consists of a written part (test) and an oral part. The set of questions for the verification of professional knowledge is provided to candidates upon payment of the advance invoice.
